Hey all! I hope everyone’s weekend has been fabulous. I’m in denial about it being the last day off work for it so don’t remind me please:)
Every year my family and some friends go to a great event we have in KC called Celebration at the Station where the Kansas City Symphony plays patriotic (or just fun) songs in our downtown train station to a park full of people for free and then have a long fireworks show afterwards!
We also go early and play frisbee, picnic, socialize and relax before the music starts and then we sit back and enjoy. This year was a bit different for me because I had to make so many bathroom trips! The bathroom is pretty far from where we sit up in the park and it’s down a bunch of stairs so this morning I woke up sore! Here’s a picture of the station from the base of the Liberty Memorial. Our place on the park lawn was pretty much at the edge of the green that you see. People were just starting to arrive!
We munched on thing from pesto and basil tomatoes to chips and cheezits! There was homemade iced tea made with basil and stevia and homebrewed beer and sodas! Here’s a Shane and I pic enjoying the warm weather (at least I was hehe).
My parents were there looking adorable as always. These two have been married over 27 years and have seven kids and don’t look like anything but a happy go lucky adorable couple.
So as you can see, this event is truly for the whole family. I should have been photographing all the food but to be honest I was more interested in the people! However, I will be posting later today on my strawberry harvest and some of the other great weekend eats I’ve been enjoying!
But for now, I’d like to wish everyone a lovely Memorial Day and to thank our soldiers for what they’re doing, and what they’d done for the country and preserving our freedoms.
