Even though the life of a new mom is hardly what you would call ‘structured’ it is far more scheduled out than a long holiday weekend! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good holiday but it can be exhausting trying to keep up with feeding the baby, making sure he sleeps enough, trying to fit family time and driving time. It was incredible but now little man and I are recooping.
Last night when we got home (around 11:30 pm!) I felt like the house was a wreck and getting the baby to bed at that time was out of wack and I was worried he wouldn’t go down easy since he’s already teething. Fortunately he went without a peep, but I just felt a little overwhelmed by how little I had gotten done around the house in the past few days. I was resolved to get everything done today. My mornings usually start out with me feeding Avery, getting him changed and bathed and then I play play play with him until he crashes. Once he was crashed I cleaned up the kitchen and settled down with my coffee. It feels so nice to get back into our ‘normal’ schedule. Avery fell asleep in my lap so I gchatted Shane telling him how adorable it was and he responded “These are the precious times ” and instead of trying to pass the baby off to his bassinet for his nap I cradled him and decided just to enjoy that moment because truly, it was precious. Who cares if I need to fold laundry, do I want to make memories with jeans and dresses? No, I want to make memories with my little son before he’s a big son!
So, on to food. After Thanksgiving I felt super bleh and I’m going to attribute that to A, gluten….B, too much salt and C, eating late. I started trying to eat my last meal before 3pm a few weeks ago and Thanksgiving doesn’t really cater to that at all. So ever since Thanksgiving I’ve been pigging out on salads and fruit!
Yummy yummy. This was a good start to the weekend. I just kept pumping the salads too. This one I topped with my sweet potato/garbonzo dish!
I ran out of onions on Friday and I’ve been taking it okay but it’s rough…..I need to make a trip to the store obviously. How long can I live without them!?
I also wanted to share a couple Avery pics. He gets SO goofy happy in the morning these days even though he’s teething so I sat down and really tried to capture his faces. These were highlights and I find them super duper adorable. hehe
Question: What are you doing to detox from Thanksgiving?
