Lighter Times

After a couple weeks of heavy and inconsistent eating, I am relieved for the end of the holiday foods.

I’ve been feeling pretty pregnant lately and today I have been quite headachy so it seems that I’m on a weekly headache schedule. Today I was determined not to let it get me down so I ate a big bowl of fruit, had some coffee and planned my strategy.

I didn’t have much variety in the fridge but just an apple, orange, banana, juice from half a lime, some coconut flakes and a dab of honey did the trick for freshness.

My strategy was this, stay vertical (laying down makes it worse), drink lots of water, have projects to keep me busy, eat lots of fresh food. You have no idea how attractive the couch looked all morning. I wanted to lay down more than words can express but I knew that I would surely make matters worse, plus I wouldn’t get anything done.

So I managed to keep myself up until after Avery’s nap and Shane suggested we go out into the sunshine for a little outing to celebrate his last day off work. It was very cold and windy but cheerfully bright! I definitely wanted to stay light with food so I got a salad.

I’m not much one for meat and passed the chicken on to Avery….he loved it of course. Mostly because he will put anything edible into his mouth and consume as fast as possible.

He also ate an entire basket of fries and drank two cups of water. That kid is insane. They didn’t have a kid friendly menu so fries was the only thing I could really get for him. I made up for it with muchos fruit when we got home. haha

I’m looking forward to light foods for a while now. I really really wish I could find some way to prevent these headaches. I can only assume eating holiday foods doesn’t help so hopefully they will be less frequent in the coming weeks.

On a side note, Shane and I just finished watching True Grit (the 2010 version) which is now on Netflix Instant and though I’ve already seen it before I was reminded of it’s truly intense quality and would like to encourage everyone with Netflix to go watch it asap. I’m still sniffling.

On another side note, our house is now completely free of Christmas decor and though I feel happy to have less clutter, it also feels rather sad not to have so many Christmas lights all over.  Why can’t all lights be as pretty as Christmas lights?

So now I’m going to play Monopoly with my husband and end my current losing streak (two losses, zero wins ARGH). Wish me luck, I sort of don’t have any. I feel like if I did have a brush with luck, like landing on Free Parking as often as he does, then I’d have a chance. But I fully plan on making him pay with this game. Mark my words. If I don’t update you it’s because I am so ashamed of my losing streak.

So good night all, I hope you enjoyed your last holiday day and are ready to hit the new year running!
