Today was another teething day, I checked his upper canine gum (left side) and the tooth still hasn’t popped! Argh, it’s all swollen though and I assume it won’t be long but unlike yesterday where all he wanted to do was snuggle, today he was restless and uncomfortable. It really wore me out emotionally more than anything.
So instead of writing a normal post I’m just going to post some photos I’ve had laying around in the home folder and not used for whatever reason.
For starters, a couple days ago I photographed my perennial herbs to show how insanely they came back after such a mild winter and early, very warm, spring.

My cilantro 'carpet'....there are even plants sprouting up in the yard!
Cilantro reseeds itself so last fall the last plants went to seed and dropped their seeds everywhere and with the unseasonably warm March came up fast and thick. Some of the plants are already going to seed! I like to have a good rotation of new plants, mature plants, and ones that are going to seed. That way once the seeds have sprouted the new plants are full grown. It’s an awesome, vicious cycle. Although they hate super duper heat so generally there is a little break in the middle of the hottest part of the summer.

Oregano
This plant is getting bigger and bigger, I think I’m going to have to dig up part of it next year because it’s starting to push the boundaries of my herb garden.

Thyme
I have two of these….they’re so big that I may have to take the same measures with them as with the oregano. They’re all a few years old so it’s time.

Parsley
This is the first time my parsley has come back and it’s so cute! I’ve been using it already.

Spinach, not an herb but pretty freaking gorgeous!
So those are some garden captures for the month of March, and maybe I’ll do one for April too. There are quite a few other plants like sorrel, tarragon, fennel and even rosemary but I can see this post getting a bit too long if I included everyone!
On to the next subject, groceries and plastic.

This is a photo I took of non-produce items that I couldn’t seem to find without plastic packaging. Obviously Shatto milk has glass packaging but I wanted organic and they don’t have that….
Has anyone ever seen rice, yogurt or organic milk packaged in anything but plastic? I haven’t….yet.
Then I took a photo of some things that I used to get in plastic packaging but have found alternatives.

I used to get my bananas from aldi and they’re prepackaged and weighed which always sort of annoyed me but I bought these at Trader Joe’s for the same price or slightly less without any packaging. My flour was in resealable plastic packaging (an organic and non GMO brand) and peanut butter was in a plastic jar but now I use the Trader Joe’s organic brand that’s in glass. I’m glad to have found ways to decrease plastic but I did get a little bit down about the amount of packaging I still found amongst my groceries like cheeses, cabbage heads and lettuce heads, as well as bottles for our fav bbq sauce and dressings. Oh well, I’ll continue to keep trying to avoid it as best as I can and see where the path takes me.
Of course I have tons more cute teething photos but I’ll just share one today:)

Yup, he’s going through the ringer, poor guy.
Anyway, now I need some green juice to help revitalize me so I can be more energetic this evening.
Question: Any suggestions on avoiding plastic packaging? Do you grow any herbs?
