Weekend

This weekend was pretty jam packed.

On Friday we went out to my family’s for a little get together and since some of them are going on vacay my dad LOADED me up with some of their garden goods.

Also, a dozen of gorgeous farm fresh eggs from his chickens!

Jack pot!

Then on Saturday it was Shane and my fifth anniversary!! We decided to try something new and fun this year and went bowling!

And in another twist, due to having an infant and a toddler, we decided to go in the afternoon! Very different. And you know what? It was really fun. Eli slept the whole time.

After we bowled (Shane won two, I won one…argh!) we walked a block or two to a cute little gelato joint.

I had a scoop of coconut in a cone and Shane had cheesecake. Both of them were out of this world delicious. We also tasted about five or six other flavors and my other favorite was pistachio which is funny because I’ve had a pistachio aversion since I was like nine when I over dosed on them haha.

I definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the Kansas City area.  Really great customer service, amazing gelato and they even serve breakfast and coffee!

After that we went to one of our fav places to find rare beers and tried some new stuff (I can only taste due to my serious lack of alcohol tolerance right now) and we chatted the hours away. Before we knew it it was already evening!

So we hurried home to relieve the MIL from babsitter duty and got our evening routine into gear. After Avery was in bed and Eli was asleep I made some pizza and Shane cracked open a bottle of wine. For some reason wine doesn’t affect my system anywhere near as hardcore as beer.

We settled in to watch a movie. It turned out to be a major buzzkill. Million Dollar Baby was the movie we chose for no particular reason other than Shane is obsessed with Clint Eastwood and I remember liking the movie when I watched it ages ago. I must have blocked the ending from my memory. So the movie ended with me bawling

We lightened up the mood with some IT Crowd fortunately.

So anyway, today is day one of Operation No More Diapers for Avery. Which means just that. Trying to catch all pees. I’ll update you on results later!

Question: What do you do for anniversaries? We’re generally low key now that we have little kids. I think in the future we’ll amp it up more but for now I’m loving it.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! looks like you two (three) had a lovely date day. blessings on many many more to come.

droooooling over that pizza picture!! maybe it’s the bubbles in beer that make you tipsy? that’s always the theory behind champagne, right? ;)

good luck on the peepee front lines this week. i’ve heard that just hunkering down and not leaving the house for a few days is one of the key elements. that, and a lot of focus and energy from mama. generally it sounds much harder for the parents to potty teach than for the kiddos to catch on! when they’re ready they’re ready. i’m sure A will be a champ!! XO!

    {still NO baby!!!}

Holy COW! Come on baby! What’s the deal?! I’ll pray for tonight. hehe

Yeah, after day one I can now safely say it is DEFINITELY more attention from mommy than effort from toddler. I’m ready to stay hunkered down though.
