Family

I have a super massive family.

There are my parents, their seven children, plus three spouses (oldest three are married)  and five grandkids (me and my brother have kids). We all gathered at my grandma’s (we call her Mor mor) house last night for a fun family dinner because my sister and her husband live out of town and are here for a wedding and my younger sister will be moving to Korea soon to be an English teacher. This means we won’t all be together for at least another year.

Me and my jet setting sister who is always off to some country or other:)

I already miss her and don’t want to think about her being gone for so long!

But family gatherings like this are fun for many reasons. The little cousins getting to play together is really cute and reminds me of all the fun I had with cousins when I was growing up.

Avery with two of his cousins and Uncle Joe.

My Mor mor’s backyard is up against a golf course so there’s great views and technically plenty of space to play (though the golf club people are super stingy hehe and I’ve been kicked off the course more times then I like to admit).

Most of my family (parents, younger sisters and SIL and brother plus kids) all live about an hour south of the city so we don’t get to see them as often as I’d like.

Isn’t my sister in law GORGEOUS? She’s had three kids in three years and is as stunning as ever.

I struggled to get a pic with many of the rest since everyone was spread out through the yard and house.

Let’s just say, it was a crowd.

Did I mention my parents also have an exchange student?

So glad I have such a wonderful family and so many of them live nearby, both immediate and in-laws.

Question: Do you live near your family? How many siblings do you have?

I have a pretty big family. I’ve got five siblings, two sisters-in-law, and there are 7 grandkids. Two extras also live at my parents’ house: my second cousin and my (adopted) sister’s biological sister. Those two are temporary, but there’s no telling how long ‘temporary’ is! most of us live in Springfield, but one brother lives in KC with his family, and my baby sister just moved to KC for college.

My husband’s family is fairly ‘normal’ (3 kids + spouses and children) but his mom is one of nine kids, and almost all of them live in the area with their kids & grandkids, so it’s crazy when we all get together!

None! Only child so my family is super small. My s/o’s family is small as well. Interesting to think about my future as a mother…will I have a small family or a big family? I think of the pros/cons a lot! I think a big fam like yours would be so rad but I’m a bif of a wanderer and daydreamer so who knows!

awww, i love this post! i am one of four girls (the oldest) and my mom is one of nine children–so i had plenty of cousins to play with when i was young. always so much fun!! i’m hoping one of my sisters chooses to have children soon (2 of them are also married) so that ellie & ryan will have cousins close enough in age to enjoy playing with in the coming years. my entire family lives in the state, the furthest sister being about 1.5 hrs away. my parents are only 20 minutes away and i feel that is such a blessing. i grew up with out-of-state grandparents so to see the bond my daughter has with grandma and grandpa, being able to see them a few times each week, is really so amazing.

you & your sister have the same smile!! those PERFECT teeth!

hope you’re having a great weekend! looks like you are… :D xo!

Gah!! I love this post! Even when I’m in Korea I’ll get up early or stay up late so that we can do some google plus hang outs with you and the kiddos.
