Well hello there! I know it’s been a while but we had a bit of an internet debacle with Comcast…..I know, it’s a cliche, but they really do have bad rap for customer service, especially when they screw up. So it was two days without it.
During the internet free weekend we made good use of our time as we are re-doing our bathroom! Step one is doing our shower. We were suffering from the bad shower job someone did on it before we moved in and so we knew we needed to fix it and fix it right. Our tub was good but the shower insert, caulking and sheet rock were in bad shape. Shane’s wonderful mom Sheryl came to help us with her extensive knowledge, amazing work ethic and TONS of tools. Let me tell you, I learned sooooo much. Friday she ripped out the insert and bad sheet rock while I was at work. Shane helped her out. Then on Saturday her and I spent the day putting up green board, taping and mudding. We didn’t do anything on Sunday as it was Valentines day and with church and everything it would have been hectic. So she came back over today and we hit the road with the tiles. We measured and I cut while she put up the whole pieces. Then together we finished getting them all up. It was such a blast and I now know so much more! I feel like it was whole day of a workshop class or something. So, it’s setting right now and tomorrow I’ll grout. Here’s what it looks like pre-grout.
It looks so much better! I don’t have before pics because I wasn’t there the first day and didn’t think about it before that! It’s really exciting though and I can’t wait to finish it! It makes our bathroom look a hundred times better.
Next we’ll paint and then we’ll be doing the tile on the floor.
Now, on to Valentines day, Shane and I always celebrate Valentines day no matter what but we’re usually pretty low key just spending time together. This year we did the usual, special thing. We went to dinner, came home, and spent the evening watching the Olympics. It was so nice. Dinner was yummy too! I had a salad with pumpkin seeds, kidney beans, tomatoes, and more with a tahiniĀ vinaigrette and a side of pita bread.
Then I had it with a root beer that was brewed in house. It was incredible. So much vanilla and foam! I’ve never had such a flavorful drink possibly in my whole life!
Sorry for the dark photos but sometimes a flash just doesn’t seem right in certain restaurants. We were at McCoy’s by the way.
Here’s an update on my plants. They’re getting big and I need to stake them! The little feelers are out. hehe

I hate it when you have customer service problems. It always seems like no one cares anymore!
Girl, that shower is GORGEOUS!! And I love McCoy’s. Never tried their root beer…too busy drinking their other brews
Hi – I just found your blog and it seems we have a lot in common. Gardening, check. Running, check. Cooking, check. And if I’m not mistaken you live in the KC area?
